Carey Beranek left behind a private practice in Applied Behavior Analysis in 2012 for the chance to collaborate with a team of colleagues at AZA United who shared her passion for helping individuals with ASD. Her career started early, at the age of 19, working in a residential treatment center for adolescent boys with developmental disabilities. She was introduced to the science of ABA when she was recruited by a father to provide home-based services to his son with autism. She was instantly fascinated with the treatment of autism. She changed her major to psychology and never looked back. Carey received her BS in 2000, and her MS in Psychology in 2009. Pursuing her passion for ABA, she went on to earn her BCaBA in 2002 and a BCBA in 2010. She was granted an AZ license to practice Behavior Analysis in 2011. Carey has a wide range of experience and expertise. She worked in residential treatment settings for 2 years, has over 15 years of experience implementing and supervising home-based services, consulted and provided staff training in public and private schools for 8 years, has presented at over 20 conferences and events, and currently leads a team of service providers and BCBAs across 2 departments. She is the past treasurer and a charter member of the AZ Association for Behavior Analysis, and is currently the Clinical Director for Behavioral Consultation Services at Arizona Autism United.
